Averys Sports Nutrition Almanac, By Edmund Burke, Ph.D. & Daniel Gastelu, M.S.
  | This book is somewhat tailored for the weight lifter, both men and women. Were not talking about fads or unproven, hyped supplements, but reliable info on which supplements are likely to help and at what doesnt. The high-profile supplements are covered (e.g., creatine, ribose, tribulus terrestris, MSM, NADH, HMB, and many, many more) in a way that is a fair and unbiased opinion on whether the supplement works or not, with case studies cited. Theres also an excellent glossary, reference sources are cataloged and theres a very useful website appendix to further your investigations. Also, theres advice sprinkled throughout the book that borders on a recommendation for certain supplements by brand name - but brand names are not the key issue here as they mention numerous and competing brands This is a tremendous resource for sports nutrition, and I especially recommend it for both men and women as there is much on female-specific nutrition in the weight lifting game. Naturalists in particular, should run...dont walk, to get this book.
