Blepharitis is caused by an infection in the eyelash follicles or in the glands at the outer edges of the eyelids. Eyestrain, poor hygiene, poor sleeping habits, poor nutrition and depressed immune function can contribute to blepharititis.

Blepharitis requires treatment with antibiotics. Wash the eyebrows, eyelids and hair with baby shampoo daily. Eat a well balanced diet that emphasizes fresh vegetables (eaten raw), grains, legumes and fresh fruits. Do not touch or rub the eyes whenever possible. Wash hands before and after touching the eyes. Get plenty of sleep and avoid straining the eyes.
