Bringraj General Information
Bringraj was used by Hindus in their Shradh, the ceremony for paying respect to a recently deceased person. This plant is one of the Hindu’s “Ten Auspicious Flowers” and is sometimes called, “the king of hair.” Since ancient times it has been used in preparations for hair and skin rejuvenation. In Ayurvedic medicine, Bringraj cools the head and calms the mind, and is suitable for Pitta types. Pitta is the element of heat energy and it helps the body maintain its heat. It is responsible for metabolism in the organ and tissue systems and in cellular metabolism. Bringraj has anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive, anti-hepatotoxic, anodyne, absorbent, tonic, and deobstruent properties.

Bringraj Uses & Scientific Evidence For
Bringraj is used to help treat cirrhosis, hepatitis, or enlargement of the liver and spleen. It is also useful for anemia and skin disorders, mental disorders, headaches, and insomnia. The juice of the plant is used to treat catarrhal jaundice. It is thought that Bringraj has restorative properties that can help assist in the treatment of premature graying of the hair, balding, and alopecia when taken internally and used topically on the scalp. It can be used in cases of dysentery, fevers, and as a mild laxative. Bringraj works as a general antiseptic, and astringent oral mouth wash for infected gums and loose teeth. It helps maintain and rejuvenate teeth, bones, sight, hearing, and memory. Externally, Bringraj can be used on minor cuts, abrasions, and burns.

Bringraj Dosage Information
For internal use, Bringraj can be taken in powder form,1/2 tsp. 2 times a day mixed with warm water, or in tablets, 1-2 tablets 2 times a day. The best method is to take it right when you get up in the morning, and then again in the late afternoon sometime before dinner. It usually takes about 3 months to see results, so it is important to keep taking it.

Bringraj Safety & Interaction Information
Bringraj can cause chills. Treating cirrhosis, hepatitis, or an enlarged liver or spleen, with Bringraj should be done under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. Taking this supplement should not replace going to the doctor. Safety in young children, or pregnant or nursing women is not known.
