Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) is a compound in Chaparral that acts as an anti-inflammatory. This herb has antioxidant flavonoids which fight free radicals. Chaparral also chelates heavy metals in the body. It protects against the harmful effects of radiation, sun exposure, and the formation of tumors and cancer cells. It can be used topically for soothing the pain of rheumatism, and as a mouthwash it helps fight cavities.
