GABA General Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an amino acid that is produced in the brain. It is formed by glutamic acid in the body with the help of vitamin B6. This amino acid is found in large amounts in the hypothalamus which has led researchers to believe that this amino acid plays an important role in the hypothalamic-pituitary function. The hypothalamus is a region on the back of the brain, which regulates sleep cycles, body temperature, and the activity of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland affects all hormonal functions of the body. The primary hormone secreted by this gland is the growth hormone. GABA is an excellent substitute for the growth hormone, and it stimulates the production of Human Growth Hormone (HGH), which has been shown to facilitate the metabolism of fats in the body. As you age, your HGH levels decrease making it harder to lose fat. HGH also promotes positive muscle-building effects.

GABA Uses & Scientific Evidence For
Studies of patients using GABA have shown an increase in sleeping cycles, which in turn gives the body more energy during the day. Clinical trials have shown that GABA releases the growth hormone which increases lean body mass. When stacked with other amino acids and nutrients, GABA enhances strength and promotes faster recovery after intense exercise, and because of that, is a great nutritional supplement for athletes of all types. GABA also has calming and soothing effects, and helps lower blood pressure. This amino acid helps control hypoglycemia and appetite, prevent anxiety, and promote restful sleep. It has also been used to treat arthritis and lower back pain.

GABA Dosage Information
The recommended dosage of GABA to take per day is a minimum of 2 grams; however, better results have been found when supplementing with 5 grams per day. If using GABA for fat loss, take about 2 hours before going to bed and at least 45 minutes after your last meal. Taking GABA at bedtime allows it to work with the body’s natural rhythms for increased effectiveness. For pain relief, GABA can be taken any time and be effective. The effects of GABA will vary from individual to individual. Results have been seen as early as two weeks after use; however, it could take as long as six to eight weeks for maximum impact.
