The berries, which are not berries at all, but a portion of the cone, were used by the Zuni Indians to help with childbirth. British herbalists used Juniper to treat congestive heart failure and stimulate menstruation, and by the 19th century, American herbalists used it to treat congestive heart failure, gonorrhea, and urinary tract infections. It is believed that Juniper has diuretic properties which help remove accumulated fluid in congestive heart failure and wash out the offending bacteria in urinary tract infections; however, there is no scientific evidence to support its effectiveness. - - - - - - - - - - - - Back to Top - - - - - - - - - - - - Juniper Berry Uses & Scientific Evidence For Today, herbalists use Juniper primarily as a component of herbal remedies to treat bladder infections.
